Swanwick Pentrich Road 4 v 0 Beper Sports

Swanwick started brightly, right back Liam Minkley opened the scoring smashing in a 35 yard effort in the opening minute. Jono Hunt made it two heading in Elliot Sharpes pin point cross. Swanwicks defence was well marshalled by man of the match Shivan Vallabh. Harry Hurst in his unfamilar role on the right side of midfield scored the third chipping the keeper.

Alex Smith and Chris Gwatkin defended admirably infront of keeper Josh Chambers who kept a clean sheet with a few fine saves. Swanwick dominated play, captain Ollie Cox came close to increasing the lead with a fine solo run. Connor Kerry had a couple of efforts on goal, the keeper pushing the ball around the post. Kieran Flynn scored the fourth to make it a comfortable win for Swanwick. Hopefully the team can repeat the performance in the league next weekend against St. Georges

Under 14's Match Report (-Saturdays)

Forest Town 3   SPRFC 2

Swanwick played their second match of the new season in Division 1 after promotion last year.  Swanwick got off to a very confident start and played some nice passing football, their pressure resulting in a free kick just outside the 18 yard area which gave Jono Hunt a chance to open the scoring which he did in fine style, but Forest Town always looked dangerous going forward but the Swanwick mid field and defence stayed strong and well organised and scored again with a neat move which was finished off by Kieran Flynn at short range, Swanwick should have gone 3 up at half time after a goal mouth scramble with the ball being blocked on the line several times by the Forest Town defenders, a goal which Swanwick could have done with as the game progressed.  Forest Town started to apply some pressure and pulled one back after a penalty.

The second half Forest Town really started to find their form and started to look increasingly dangerous as the game went on, Swanwick stayed strong as a team and managed to keep out the Forest Town strikers, late into the second half a long through ball by the Forest Town mid fielder caused problems for the defence and gave their forward a chance to knock in the equaliser, which he did.  Swanwick's keeper Jack Rhodes made some excellant saves towards the end of the match to keep Swanwick in the game and looked like getting a deserved point, inside the last minute of the game another long ball, again over the defence, resulted in the winner for Forest Town.

Man of the Match:   Jack Rhodes
